Sorrentino-Magnuson, Maria, MSN, WHNP-BC, APNP

Maria joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in February 2026. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Italian from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2006. After the birth of her first child, she chose to pursue a career in nursing. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2017 and a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier University in 2023. She initially pursued nursing to support patients in having positive birth experiences and later developed a strong interest in gynecologic care, particularly prevention and education.

Maria brings over nine years of clinical experience, including practice as a Nurse Practitioner at a Federally Qualified Health Center and seven years as a labor and delivery nurse in the Milwaukee area. She is board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) and trained in colposcopy. Her clinical interests include abnormal cervical cancer screening and follow-up, sexually transmitted infection (STI) diagnosis and prevention, menstrual and hormonal concerns, contraception counseling, and menopause management. She values creating a space where patients feel comfortable discussing sensitive concerns and focuses on clear education and collaborative decision-making, so care plans are both medically sound and realistic for each individual.

Outside of work, Maria enjoys spending time with her husband and two children: cheering on their sports and arts activities, exploring the Milwaukee area by bike, trying new restaurants, and visiting as many national parks as they can together.
