Introduction

Cory Smid, MGCS, CGC, is a genetic counselor who joined our team in the summer of 2025 and specializes in neurogenetics. Prior to joining our team, Cory worked as a genetic counselor at UW-Health in Madison, WI working in multiple clinics including medical genetics (pediatric and adult), and a multi-disciplinary neurocutaneous clinic. While in at UW-Health, he was heavily involved in training genetic counseling students, also serving as an adjust assistant professor. Cory has also worked as a genetic counselor at Children’s Wisconsin, working in several clinics including pediatrics, neuromuscular, and neurogenetics. Cory received his Bachelor of Science (genetics) in 2016 and Master of Genetic Counselor Studies in 2019, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Cory has a passion for providing personalized care for all patients. Empathy, kindness, and thoroughness help form a firm foundation for excellent patient care. Whether patients are in the early stages of seeking a genetic diagnosis, or have known about one for years, Cory strives to address the needs of each patient within a visit.
