Patil, Chetan, PhD

Research Scientist

Introduction

Dr. Chetan Patil earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His dissertation work focused on the redox regulation of Janus Kinase activity and its contribution to the intracellular signaling cascade, ultimately affecting cell proliferation. His post-doctoral work trained him in preclinical studies with a focus on cardiometabolic and renal pathophysiology in polycystic ovarian syndrome and pregnancy complications concerning hormonal dysregulation. He continued his work in drug development strategy for polycystic kidney disease and dietary regulation of energy metabolism.

Dr. Chetan Patil is working as a research scientist under the guidance of Dr. Liang Liang, where he will focus on investigating the pathophysiology of preterm delivery. He will be part of an advanced drug development program to delay preterm birth using in vivo and in situ experimental models. The aim is to reduce risk for maternal health during parturition and improve fetal health after birth. He will also be part of the team conducting metabolomic studies to identify efficient biomarkers for preterm delivery in human subjects.
