Muñoz, Emily, PhD

Dr. Emily Muñoz joined the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2026. She completed her undergraduate and master’s degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2024. Dr. Muñoz completed her internship at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Madison, WI. She then completed the Advanced Fellowship in Women’s Health at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Dr. Muñoz provides psychological services including assessment, evidence-based psychotherapy, and consultation. Her clinical interests focus on sexual and reproductive mental health, including perinatal mental health, menopause/perimenopause, chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and sexual dysfunction. She utilizes a culturally-affirming and trauma-informed approach to care that supports patients’ overall mental, physical, and social health and well-being.

Dr. Muñoz is involved with the American Psychological Association and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Dr. Muñoz also conducts research focused on understanding the impact of gender-based violence on reproductive and sexual health, particularly among vulnerable and marginalized communities. She provides lectures and didactic training on topics related to women’s health. She sees patients in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic at McKinley Health Center.
