Introduction

Dr. Lizzie Hovis is an assistant professor of Psychiatry and secondary faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her clinical interests include Women’s Mental Health and Perinatal Substance Use.

Dr. Hovis completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, residency in General Adult Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin before joining MCW as faculty in 2022.

Dr. Hovis helped develop the MCW MOTHERS (maternal opioid treatment, holistic education, resources and support) program to better care for pregnant women impacted by substance use. In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Hovis is a staff psychiatrist with The Periscope Project where she strives to improve access to quality care for patients struggling with mental health concerns during and following pregnancy.
