Cantu Santoli, Shannan, CNM

Shannan Cantu Santoli joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in September, 2025. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2016. Following graduation, she worked in Southern Illinois practicing full scope midwifery. In 2020, she moved to Milwaukee for new opportunities and better weather. She received a Sexual Health Certificate from the University of Michigan in 2023 and began her PhD Studies at Marquette University in 2022. She is currently a PhD Candidate and plans to graduate in the spring of 2026.

Shannan’s practice has focused primarily on obstetrics and gynecological services. During her PhD studies she also worked in a Title X Clinic focused on contraceptive management, sexually transmitted infection management, PREP, doxyPEP, and PEP. In this public health role, she also designed educational outreach programs for adolescents about menstrual health, sexually transmitted infections, and contraception. Her research interests include quantitative blood loss and management of the third stage of labor.

Outside of work, she enjoys meandering walks, boardgames, and reading. Most of her free time with her husband and two young kids is spent exploring the best playgrounds in the greater Milwaukee area.
