Kruper, Abbey R., PsyD, ABPP
Associate Professor; Co-Director, Women’s Mental Health
Dr. Abbey Kruper is a board-certified clinical health psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Kruper joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2013 and currently serves as Co-Director of Women’s Mental Health. She completed her undergraduate degree at Marquette University and received her Doctorate of Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Kruper completed her internship at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Arizona, and her postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where she remained on faculty prior to joining MCW.
Dr. Kruper’s clinical interests include assessment and psychotherapy with specialization in adjustment to health status and treating co-existing psychological disorders. She works with patients to promote well-being through health behavior change and more adaptive coping. In the department of OB/GYN, Dr. Kruper focuses on the reproductive spectrum providing clinical care and education related to infertility, perinatal mental health, high-risk maternal and fetal conditions, including birth trauma and perinatal grief, and perimenopause.
Dr. Kruper is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has been an adjunct instructor for undergraduate students. Dr. Kruper has lectured nationally on topics pertaining to women’s health as well as professional development, fulfillment, and well-being.
