Cardiovascular Genetics Program

The Cardiovascular Genetics Team provides comprehensive genetic counseling and testing to individuals with cardiovascular disease. Many cardiovascular diseases are hereditary and may be identified through genetic testing. This means if someone in your family has a heart condition, there may be others at risk. Not only does having this critical information impact yourhealth, but finding a genetic cause also has the powerful potential to assist in risk assessment and clinical management for family members.

A genetic counselor identifies genetic risk by reviewing each patient鈥檚 medical history in addition to taking a thorough family history. They have specialized training to be able assess and explain genetic risks, genetic testing options, in addition to interpret and explain genetic testing results in a clear manner.

Our genetic counselors work closely with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and lipidologists to provide exceptional comprehensive care. Together, we work with patients and their families to provide accurate evaluations, coordinate screening, and provide genetic counseling and testing to get answers individuals and families need.
