Johnson, Kaitlin, PhD
Research Scientist
Dr. Johnson received both her PhD and Post-doctoral training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her dissertation research consisted of characterizing genes that affect how the immune system regulates chronic gammaherpesvirus infections. In her postgraduate work, she identified novel expression of complement in the gastrointestinal tract and initiated research on the role of localized C3 in gastrointestinal homeostasis. She then spent two years as a medical writer at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, where she developed clinical practice guidelines.
Kaitlin joined the McIntosh Lab in 2025 as a research scientist, joining her passions for scientific research and women’s health. Currently, her focus in the lab is examining novel treatment options for patients with preeclampsia.
In her free times, Kaitlin enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, reading, baking, and playing sports.
