Dr. Jessica Smith joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in October 2019 in our Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Smith received her Medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2010. She went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center from 2010 to 2014 and then completed her residency in Medical Genetics at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan from 2014-2016. She then completed her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Michigan from 2016-2019, prior to joining the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Smith’s areas of expertise include high risk obstetrics with an emphasis on pregnancies complicated by fetal anomalies. She also specializes in prenatal diagnosis and reproductive genetics. Her other areas of expertise are caring for women who themselves have a genetic diagnosis.

Dr. Smith’s research interests include prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, fetal therapy, and genetic testing in the prenatal period. She has presented her research at national and international meetings and has multiple peer-review publications.

Dr. Smith is actively involved in the education of residents, medical students, and genetic counseling students. She is also involved in several national societies. She is currently on the Annual Program Committee for the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

Dr. Smith sees patients in the Maternal Fetal Care Center clinic at Froedtert Hospital, the Fetal Concerns Center at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and the perinatology clinic at St. Joseph’s Health Center.

Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her family and friends and enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and attending fine art performances such as symphonies and musicals.
