My area of interest is to study the genomic programs employed by tumor cells for cellular plasticity. The major goal of my research is to characterize the molecular mechanisms regulate cellular plasticity during peritoneal spreading of ovarian cancer. I have developed an in vitro model to culture tumor spheroids to study the molecular mechanism, how tumor cells detach from the primary tumor and form spheroids, then implant on distant organ sites. I have identified the key genes regulate integrin signaling for cell-adhesion and the gene network facilitate the formation of tumor spheroid on non-adherent condition. I expect that our studies will uncover a previously unknown mechanism that regulates cellular plasticity in ovarian cancer cells during cancer progression.
