Introduction

Dr. Catherine Bachur joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in August 2024 in our Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine as a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow. She completed her medical degree at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia in 2019. She then completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at University of Iowa from 2019-2023 where she served as Administrative Chief Resident from 2022-2023. Dr. Bachur was a faculty member in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa from 2023-2024 before joining the Medical College of Wisconsin for fellowship.

Dr. Bachur works with women in all areas of high-risk obstetrics at the Maternal Fetal Care Center at Froedtert Hospital. This may include preconception counseling, management of complex maternal and fetal conditions in pregnancy, obstetric procedures and deliveries.

Dr. Bachur’s research interests include quality improvement in obstetric and post-partum care, family planning in maternal fetal medicine, and maternal anemia, diabetes and hypertension.

Dr. Bachur obtained a Master’s degree in Urban Bioethics from Temple University in 2019 and she enjoys incorporating patient advocacy into her daily practice. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2018 for excellence in patient-centered care. She previously served as a Program Representative and the Junior Fellow Chair for the Iowa Section of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) District VI. She has participated in multiple safety and quality improvement committees throughout her medical training.

Dr. Bachur is actively involved in medical student and resident education. She was awarded the 2023 University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology “Golden Apple” award for excellence in medical student teaching.

Outside of work, Dr. Bachur enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and exploring all the outdoor and culinary offerings of Milwaukee.
