Davidson, Emily RW, MD

Associate Professor; Chief of Urogynecology; Specialty Digital Care Medical Director

Dr. Emily Davidson joined the department as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Women’s Incontinence & Sexual Health (WISH) Program in August 2019. She graduated from Indiana University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2012 then completed her internship and residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She elected to pursue subspecialty training and completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Davidson’s practice includes evaluation and management of pelvic floor disorders. In the office, she prioritizes making sure her patients understand their conditions and treatment options. She is able to offer office procedures, including bladder injections for overactive bladder. Dr. Davidson performs both outpatient surgeries and more complex surgical repairs. For appropriate patients, she is able to offer prolapse repairs without a hysterectomy (not removing the uterus). Dr. Davidson is trained in robotic surgery and has a special interest in providing Sacroneuromodulation, which are symptoms of overactive bladder and fecal incontinence.

Dr. Davidson’s research has spanned different aspects of the field of Urogynecology. However, her research often focuses on trying to assess the patient perspective and a patient-centered outcome. She recently published an article in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) on surgical outcomes and patients’ views of outcomes after two types of prolapse repair that include leaving the uterus in place (hysteropexy).

Awards and honors include a $10,000 research grant from American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). This award funded a randomized controlled trial during her fellowship studying opioid prescriptions after hospital discharge following prolapse surgery for which Dr. Davidson served as the principle investigator. Other honors include multiple teaching awards during residency and being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during medical school. She also served as an administrative chief resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently serves on the Social Media team for the journal of her specialty’s society, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).

She sees patients in the Women’s Incontinence and Sexual Health (WISH) clinic here in the Froedtert Specialty Clinics building.

Outside of work, Dr. Davidson enjoys spending time with her husband and family, especially walking along Lake Michigan and attending live theater and music events.
