Dr. Meredith Cruz joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor in October, 2012. She earned her B.S. with Honors from the University of Wisconsin, followed by a MPH/MBA from the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Cruz then pursued her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois Hospital where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. She recently completed a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Illinois Hospital prior to joining the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Cruz specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine with an emphasis on critical care and high risk obstetrics, prenatal diagnosis, and ultrasonography. Her other areas of expertise include hypertension, diabetes, and cardiac issues in pregnancy.
Dr. Cruz’s research interests include hypertensive and cardiac disease in pregnancy. She has had multiple peer-reviewed and non peer-reviewed publications in her areas of research interest in addition to research presentations at national meetings. She holds multiple positions in ACOG and SMFM and is active in the community including volunteering at free medical clinics. She also has a special interest in public health and advocacy.
As a native of the Milwaukee area, Dr. Cruz enjoys spending time with family and friends and is active in a variety of activities including running, yoga, group fitness, tennis, snowboarding, piano playing, and ballroom dancing.
