Dr. Sumana Koduri joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor in February, 2006. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1994. She then went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Aurora Sinai Medical Center from 1994 to 1998. She continued onto a fellowship in Urogynecology at Northwestern University from 1998 to 2001. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Koduri’s practice involves the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor disorders such as Incontinence, Urinary Tract Infections, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Overactive Bladder, Interstitial Cystitis and Pelvic Pain. She emphasizes non-surgical as well as surgical treatment for the above and promotes minimally invasive surgeries.
She has a strong interest in education and is the Reproductive Module Director for the new innovative curriculum being implemented at the Medical College. She also believes in an educated patient and gives community talks all over the Milwaukee area on incontinence and prolapse.
While not being life threatening conditions, urogenital issues such as urinary incontinence and prolapse can have a strong negative impact on one’s quality of life. These issues are also viewed differently in various cultures. Her approach to a woman has always been towards improving this quality of life in a multimodal fashion.
