Dr. Bishop joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, at the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor in October, 2013. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2006. She subsequently went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. After her four year residency, she continued her training in the subspecialty of Gynecology Oncology. Dr. Bishop completed a three year fellowship in Gynecology Oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Dr. Bishop’s clinical practice includes the care of women with gynecologic malignancies including uterine, cervical, ovarian primary peritoneal, fallopian tube, vulvar and vaginal malignancies and gestational trophoblastic disease. She performs the surgery, the post-operative therapy if indicated, and the follow up surveillance of women in her practice. In addition, she is also interested in the treatment of women who have been diagnosed with pelvic masses, pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix, vulva, vagina or uterus, as well as cancer screening and prevention. She is trained and has expertise in the administration of chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies, including intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian malignancy. She has extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgery including general laparoscopy and robotic assisted laparoscopy.

Dr. Bishop’s academic interests include research in uterine malignancies and the treatment of elderly patients with gynecologic malignancies.

Dr. Bishop is a member of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.

Her research and laboratory focuses on understanding the interaction between ovarian cancer spheroids and the mesothelium that lines the peritoneal cavity in order to determine how spheroids play a role in ovarian cancer metastasis and resistance to treatment.
