16 Oct Welcome Ramani Ramchandran, PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology
We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Ramani Ramchandran, PhD has been appointed the Patrick J. and Margaret G. McMahon endowed Professor and Vice Chair of Research. Ramani Ramchandran, PhD, a tenured professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin was named the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology starting October 1, 2013. This new position will be in addition to his responsibilities in the Department of Pediatrics, where he heads the Developmental Vascular Biology Program, and is the Director of the Zebrafish Drug Screening Core in the Children’s Research Institute.
Dr. Ramchandran is an established investigator in the field of vascular biology, and has published over 40 articles in international journals on the topic of vascular, blood and mechanisms governing vascular patterning in development and disease. His laboratory performed seminal work on the identification of mutations in Dual specific phosphatase5 (DUSP5) and Sucrose non-fermenting receptor kinase (SNRK) genes in patients with vascular anomalies. His research is currently funded from the National Institutes of Health and foundations. In this new position, Dr. Ramchandran will facilitate the development of the maternal-child health research and gynecological cancer programs in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, chaired by Janet S. Rader, MD. With this appointment, Dr. Ramchandran’s research bridges the clinical problems associated with the mother and the child.
