17 Jan New Babyscripts App Available for Froedtert Patients Helps Expectant Mothers
Expectant moms often have a lot of questions during pregnancy, and many are getting answers instantly thanks to an app offered by Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Birth Centers.
Hillary Gardner-Noll, of Brookfield, is a first-time mother. She is 21 weeks along and, like many pregnant women, has wondered if some of the things she has felt during her pregnancy are normal.
“As a first-time mom, there were a lot of natural anxieties I had, and I was doing a lot of googling.”
A lot of googling that Dr. Ashley Wanless, Medical College of Wisconsin’s OBGYN resident alumna and Obstetrician of St. Joseph’s Health Center in West Bend says could lead to incorrect answers.
“When you google it, you’re not sure what’s true, who it came from. You have to do some searching to make sure you got a reputable source,” she said.
Froedtert Hospital Birth Centers offer the Babyscripts app, which was written by OB/GYNs.
“We used to give out a folder and that was great and had a lot of information, but if you’re out and about and you have a cold and you want to buy some medicine and you’re not sure if it’s safe but your paperwork is at home, this way you can look it up on the app,” Wanless said.
The app provides medicine, nutrition, fitness and lifestyle information on a smartphone.
“It makes me feel a lot more confident, like I’m doing everything right.” — first-time mom Hillary Gardner-Noll
“I had a lot of back pain in the beginning, and it had a really great section on what was considered normal back pain and why I was having it,” Gardner-Noll said.
She added the app gives new moms peace of mind, “It makes me feel a lot more confident, like I’m doing everything right.”
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Birth Centers are sponsors of the TODAY’S TMJ4 Community Baby Shower.
The baby shower is Friday, Jan.18. New baby items such as diapers, wipes, formula, clothes and toys can be dropped off at any area Sentry Foods store.
