MCW is hosting its 3rd annual Community Engagement Week April 17 – 21. It’s a week full of sessions to facilitate education, networking, recognition and promotion of Community Engagement to strengthen community and academic collaboration around health by exploring and growing our common ground to improve the lives of Wisconsin Communities. Each day’s theme is one of the five social determinants of health, and will feature special sessions related to that topic and its critical components – 1) Economic Stability: poverty, employment, food security, housing stability, 2) Education: high school graduation, enrollment in higher education, language and literacy, early childhood education and development, 3) Social and Community Context: social cohesion, civic participation, discrimination, incarceration, 4) Health and Health Care: access to health care, access to primary care, health literacy, 5) Neighborhood and Built Environment: access to healthy foods, quality of housing, crime and violence, environmental conditions.
