Dr. Timothy Klatt Receives Promotion to Professor

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Klatt has been promoted to the position of a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine 1992. He completed residency at the University of Cincinnati and was in private practice until coming to the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2004. Dr. Klatt was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009.

Since being appointed to Associate Professor, Dr. Klatt has demonstrated true skill as an administrator. In 2011, he accepted the position of Medical Director for the Ob-Gyn Specialty Clinic where he transformed the clinic’s performance in less than two years. He is now Head, Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a great mentor for several junior faculty members in the department.

Dr. Klatt contributes extensively to numerous system-level and campus-wide committees. He is passionate about continually improving patient safety and quality. His efforts regularly make it easier for our Department and the entire enterprise to deliver the right care to the right patient at the right time.

Dr. Klatt enjoys a national reputation, exemplified by annual election to the Best Doctor’s in America Database since 2012, the numerous presentations he has delivered at national meetings, his selection for an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Expert Panel and his service, since 2008, as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Klatt exhibits a true passion for teaching. He has honed his skills to enable him to communicate effectively with learners at all levels, regularly mentoring students, residents, and faculty in clinical care and their research efforts. He has twice earned recognition as one of MCW’s Outstanding Medical Student Educators and continually strives to live up to the pins on his jacket. The residents rate his teaching as nothing short of outstanding. When he speaks to professional audiences on optimizing team function and quality and safety improvement, he does so as a seasoned, polished expert. His student mentees receive Honors in Research designations on their diplomas and contribute to external presentations and publications.

He has also successfully pursued grant funding for his quality and safety improvement efforts. This year, he is a co-PI on a Spreading Choosing Wisely Grant from the American Board of Internal Medicine. This is the first multi-healthsystem grant in collaboration with the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality for Froedtert and the Medical College.

In addition to his administrative, research and teaching activities, Dr. Klatt maintains a very busy clinical practice of both routine and complicated obstetric and gynecologic conditions. He is an expert clinician and an accomplished clinical team leader. Since joining MCW, he has been recognized as one of the 20 highest-scoring physicians in the inpatient (twice) and outpatient (also twice) environments.
