Dr. Timothy Klatt Named Medical Director for Patient Safety

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Klatt has accepted the role of Medical Director of Patient Safety for Froedtert Hospital (FMLH) and Medical College Physicians (MCP). In this role he will partner with Belinda Beckner, Director Patient Safety to transform, develop and enhance the safety culture and safety practices at FMLH and MCP to achieve our goal of zero preventable harm. He takes on this responsibility from Dr. Robert Gleeson who has served in this capacity for the past five years. Dr. Gleeson is leaving this leadership role to start the next phase of his career in executive coaching. Tim will build on Bob’s invaluable foundational work and we owe an immense debt of gratitude to Dr. Gleeson for his many contributions to patient safety at FMLH and MCP. Dr. Gleeson’s motto of ‘every patient safe every time’ will continue to guide us on our patient safety journey.

Dr. Klatt completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and then his MD from the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He came to the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2004 and rose quickly to the rank of Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During his tenure so far Dr. Klatt has made innumerable contributions to FMLH and MCW spanning across education, research, community engagement and clinical care. In his administrative appointments he embodied a culture of teamwork, trust and transparency to improve systems of care for our patients. Most recently in his role as chief patient safety and quality officer for MCP he led the departmental PSQOs to develop a system of measuring and improving specialty quality measures that has enhanced the culture of quality improvement in our practice. He led the creation of practice wide admissions standards as well as coordinated hospital wide mortality and morbidity conferences.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Klatt as he assumes this critical role.
