Action Learning Workshop for Women’s Health on LARC a Success

July 27, 2015  |  Community Engagement, News & Events

The Pabst Catalyst Café, which focused on long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) and Women’s health in Milwaukee, was the inaugural workshop of the Pabst Catalyst Action Learning Initiative. Implementing the “World Café” Method, Dean Magda Peck (University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Zilber School of Public Health), facilitated multiple opportunities for clinicians, community members, practitioners, and educators to engage in critical conversations surrounding women’s health and LARC implementation. The workshop commenced with presentations by Kathy King, MD (Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical College of Wisconsin) and Renaisa Anthony, MD, MPH (Deputy Director/Assistant Professor, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, College of Public Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center). These informative talks provided the groundwork for participants to tease out insights and generate ideas to address women’s health and wellness as they relate to Milwaukee. Over the span of four hours (which literally flew by), individuals across departments, organizations, and institutions enthusiastically joined together to establish the next steps of this collaborative initiative.
