We will discuss which gynecological malignancies have been linked to genetics and the importance of knowing about your family history for appropriate cancer screening.
Erin Bishop, MD, Gynecologic Oncologist, will review the burden of cervical cancer in the world as well as the United States. We will learn about the association between HPV and cervical cancer. Current guidelines for the use of the HPV vaccine for men and women will also be reviewed.
Care of transgender patients requires providers to be aware of issues specific to this population. A multidisciplinary approach is essential for a safe and effective transition. This symposium addresses the counseling, hormone treatment as well as surgical options available to transgender patients.
The symposium’s objectives:
- Identify guidelines for establishing care of transgender patients
- Identify special considerations for health screening for transgender patients
- Identify options for transition with medical and surgical interventions

Dr. Denise Uyar will review cervical cancer, the role of HPV in malignancy and HPV vaccinations.
This talk will review the association between obesity and gynecologic cancers, our understanding of why this association exists and what changes can be made to prevent cancer and improve outcomes.

The discussion will be led by Denise Uyar, MD, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center. The presentation will be followed by a community conversation on topic.
